Most reputable waterproofing contractors will offer you a lifetime warranty. This is what you want. When you invest in some system to fix your problem, you want and need a lifetime warranty. Like all documents you must read them carefully. Do not take a salespersons word for it that the warranty covers you. You and you alone must read the document and ask questions for clarification as necessary. There is a lot of fraud amongst the home improvement industry vendors. Since you don’t want to keep your water problem and be out of your investment its best to do your own due diligence and read the documentation firsthand.
When it comes to how your foundation is made and likely the materials that when into its construction. You’ll note that concrete blocks, cinder block style foundations as material weakness are very porous as a substance. They are by design filled with tiny wholes. Products like painted or sprayed on coatings and sealers were made to address this weakness. They are at best a temporary fix ONLY. The use of hydraulic cement is no better. What you end up doing is investing in something that is about two to four times as expensive as the original product expense. Avoid them at all costs.
Another very common basement waterproofing problem is the foundation. It is impossible to build a property and for the foundation not to “settle” as some point. Depending on how much it settles and the response of the entire structure to the settlement. You may have cracks and holes to deal with as a result. Some basic do it yourself measures here that you can use is to check your down sprouts. Most homeowners gravitate towards more expensive repairs first. Frustration plays a big toll in this decision. But make sure at least that the water is being drained away from your foundational walls.
Having sink tiles installed can be a huge expense but it is often effective. The idea is to work in tandem with what mother nature has given you. If you live in an area where the soil retains moisture. Clay is notorious for this. You’ll benefit by having sink tiles installed around the perimiter of your domain. These tiles are in essence a trench that channels the water over to a sump pump seller drain. This is a great way to get rid of the excessive water.
